How would you describe your brand?
With the full understanding that the business I am in is a luxury, I try to provide transparent pricing and arm my clients with as much knowledge possible about the industry before jumping into the deep end (mentally and monetarily!). My favorite thing is when my clients feel confident and secure in their purchases, and know they can trust my work and ethics. Valuing not only craftsmanship – but longevity – is something that not a lot of newer jewellery brands can say that uphold. I am in the business of creating long lasting pieces that will become heirlooms for many cycles of wearing, not just something that can be tossed out as soon as it breaks or fades.
What type of engagement rings are your speciality?
The type of work I tend to gravitate to (and that my clients are looking for) is usually geometric or architectural in inspiration, while at the same time remaining elegant and whimsical. I have been told many times (thanks to the TikTok trend!) that my rings look like they have been “forged by dwarves and left in an ancient forest for thousands of years…” which I LOVE TO HEAR. Salt & pepper diamonds have always been a staple in my work right from the very beginning, but over the years, my clients love using alternative stones for their engagement rings – like colored sapphires and the underrated (but my favorite) spinel.
Do you offer custom designs?
Custom work has become the majority of what I do, and I love it. The first step after getting in touch is figuring out as many details as possible together, about what it is you are looking for. Some clients come armed to the teeth, and some have no idea where to start! Both are okay, I am here to help and guide at every step. Every project is different, and the process can look a little different every time. Generally, we will figure out a timeline, budget, materials, and overall design options.
Once we settle on a single design, I will provide you with a final quote or estimates for a few different ideas if we are really having trouble deciding! After the quote has been approved, a 50% deposit is taken to secure the order and the materials.
Next, I will usually create a completed sketch or wax model which will be used for your approval before starting work in metal.
Because every project is unique, some rings can take 4 weeks from start to finish if you have all your ideas settled, and some can take 12 months if we are on the hunt for a specific center stone. The average timeline is 8 to 10 weeks.
What’s your bestselling engagement ring?
The ANDROMEDA ring, by far, is my best seller.
It features a princess cut or step cut square stone on an angle, and a partial halo set with my staple tiger prong. I think my clients are really drawn to the fact that is so easily customizable in terms of stones and sizing. I have made this ring many, many times over with different combinations of stones for the center and accents. The price can be adjusted depending on what stones we choose – going for under $2000 CAD to over $20,000 CAD.
Do you offer payment plans?
My website uses Afterpay for pieces under $2000, but payment plans can be arranged with me by request. In today’s economy, I totally understand that being able to buy the engagement ring of one’s dreams can mean many months of savings. Being a small business owner myself, I also understand there are seasons with large influxes and then low seasons as well, and I am happy to spread out costs where we can.
Here’s a little more information for working with Liane Vaz:
We offer one complimentary sizing within the first six months of purchase. Additional fees may apply to any adjustments after six months from the time of purchase, or if multiple adjustments occur within the same period.
My number one goal is to make sure that you are happy with your finished piece. With every piece of custom jewellery, we aim to offer as much information as possible – images, descriptions, as well as videos and certifications upon request – as we go along the process.
Unless it is a custom piece, if you are unhappy with your purchase you may return it within 10 days of receiving it. Returns are only applicable to items that have not been sized or adjusted. As per usual, no returns exchanges will be issued if the piece has been damaged or altered.
However, custom orders are always final sale and are non-refundable, as they are made specifically for you. I take great steps to make sure every detail is confirmed along the entire custom process so you are entirely confident in what you are receiving.
